The government has confirmed that American XL bullies will be added to the list of banned dogs from December 31, 2023. The new rules will make it illegal to breed, sell, advertise, exchange, gift, rehome, abandon or allow XL bully dogs to stray. Owners will also be required to muzzle the dogs. The rules are similar to those issued for the four breeds banned under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.
