Lucasfilm has officially confirmed the release month for Andor season 2. Starring Diego Luna as Cassian Andor, Tony Gilroy's Andor Disney+ TV show serves as a surprising prequel to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The first season was a surprising hit, remarkable for its clear political overtones, the strength of its writing, and the impressive performances of supporting cast such as Stellan Skarsgård, Genevieve O'Reilly, and Denise Gough.

At Star Wars Celebration, it was revealed that the second season is halfway through filming, with Lucasfilm eyeing a completion date in summer 2023. This makes sense given production began in November 2022, and is expected to wrap up in August this year.
What Made Andor Season 1 Such A Remarkable Success? Andor was the Star Wars TV show nobody really expected, simply because Cassian's fate is already known; he died in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, one of a handful of rebels responsible for stealing the Death Star plans. But the scripts of Andor season 1 were unusually deep for Star Wars, affording actors tremendous opportunities to deliver some of the most compelling moments in the franchise's history.
Star Wars has always been political, ever since George Lucas based the plucky rebels on the Viet Cong from the Vietnam War. Andor embraced that aspect of Lucas' legacy with surprising boldness, presenting the evil of the Empire in a much more thorough and grounded manner than before. Meanwhile, the Senate subplots involving O'Reilly's Mon Mothma gave insight into the very beginning of the Rebel Alliance.
The shadow of the Death Star loomed over Andor, of course. At one point, Cassian found himself laboring in a prison camp - and, though he did not know it, he was working on droids that would help with building the Death Star. Andor season 2 will complete this story, as the Empire moves towards the completion of its super-weapon; Luna's titular character will find himself diving ever deeper into the darkness, until finally he finds a single radiant beam of hope.
