EXCLUSIVE: The new Deputy Prime Minister said too many Scots in full-time employment were unable to make ends meet.
Angela Rayner has spoken of her determination to deliver a pay rise for Scots families after sharing her own experience of low-paid work.
The UK Government also announced new legislation last month to ban "exploitative" zero-hours contracts which allow employers to only pay staff when they need them. "If you're in work in Scotland, you should be able to provide for your family. You shouldn't have to visit a food bank. Work should be able to provide for you and your family.
Rayner was speaking after the Scottish Government announced it would follow the lead of the UK Government this week and make the Winter Fuel Payment means-tested.
