Leclerc, however, has gone longer since appearing in a major league game. He tore the teres major muscle in the back of his shoulder just two outings into the shortened 2020 season and missed the rest of the year, then suffered the elbow injury in 2021. Hernández was the Rangers’ Rookie of the Year in 2020, then suffered the same elbow injury as Leclerc early in 2021 spring training.
