Liverpool agreed a £75m deal to sign Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon last summer, but that proposed move to Anfield never materialised.
Anthony Gordon has revealed that he's close to signing a new contract at Newcastle United . The forward was heavily linked with a return to Liverpool , having played for the Reds youth team before being released, aged 11. Gordon went on to play for Merseyside rivals Everton before completing a big money move to the North East in January 2023.
Joe Gomez would have moved the other way, in a separate £45m transfer, but both deals collapsed after the Magpies raised funds to comply with the Premier League 's Profit and Sustainability Rules by other means. And Gordon now looks set to extend his stay at Newcastle with the stands at St James' Park displaying the words 'AG 10', before Saturday lunchtime's showdown with Manchester City.
