Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois face each other in a world heavyweight title fight at Wembley Stadium on Saturday as part of the Riyadh Season, a first match at the venue for Dubois but a return for Joshua who last fought there in 2018.
With a crowd of 96,000 expected at the stadium and many more watching it live on television through pay-per-view, it looks set to be a major sporting event.And for both boxers, the high stakes and high audience figures mean a significant pay packet at the end.Joshua is expected to be the bigger earner in this match, although no official figures have been revealed about the purse or prize money.
According to website sportysalaries.com, the 34-year-old is guaranteed to earn at least £6m with a 60 per cent share of pay-per-view sales and this could soar to £25m if the PPV purchases exceed one million.The two-time heavyweight champion has previously spoken of his desire to become a billionaire, saying “being a millionaire is good but you have to set your sights higher”.
His 2017 clash with Wladimir Klitschko, which saw him win the WBA heavyweight title, earned him an estimated £12m.How much could Daniel Dubois take home?, the 27-year-old could be in line for a 40 per cent share of the PPV sales with a guaranteed £3.5m and a possible payout of £10m if PPV purchases exceed one million.This would put him in line for his biggest payout so far in career.
