When faced with the question of which Avengers star he would take to a desert island, Anthony Mackie considers one person... but in the end, another stands triumphant. Any guesses for who he picks?
Anthony Mackie reveals which of his Avengers co-stars he’d like be stuck on a desert island with. The actor has been playing the role of Sam Wilson, aka Falcon, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
When Mackie's Falcon made his MCU debut, he started as a friend and ally of Steve Rogers and fought with him against a brainwashed Bucky Barnes while he was in the midst of his Winter Soldier era. From there, Mackie, like many Marvel cast members, has been on a long journey throughout Phases 2 and 3 of the MCU, and he does not appear to be done just yet.
"I would say Lizzie Olsen because I love to laugh at her because she's a funny human being, but you know, everywhere I go, I take Sebastian. He's my right hand. I'm sorry for being for unsurprising but that's my dude, so if I'm going to a deserted island for five days, I'm gonna take my dude. We could do some fishing, drink a few coconuts. It'd be great."
While many would consider Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, an ideal choice to be on a desert island with, it’s definitely no surprise that Mackie picked Stan given their strong chemistry both on and off screen. After Avengers: Endgame, Sam and Bucky's pairing on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier made sense from a story point-of-view, and their dynamic was praised by critics and audiences.
What helped The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was the buddy cop-esque relationship between Mackie and Stan. Their characters went through so much together by just being Captain America’s friends. Now that Steve is gone, Sam and Bucky have been helping usher in a new era for the MCU, which could include any future Avengers films. Whether fighting supervillains or spending time on a remote island, it always helps to have great chemistry, and Mackie and Stan are no exception.
