Benfica striker heading to watfordfc on loan but unlikely to be available for Saturday
Highly-rated Portuguese striker Henrique Araujo is joining Watford on loan from Benfica for the remainder of the season.
Head coach Slaven Bilic has said since before the transfer window opened that he wanted a striker, and theWith the Portuguese player only flying to England today to complete the necessary paperwork and undertake his medical, it is unlikely he will be able to gain international clearance in time to be able to take part in Saturday’s game with Rotherham United.
The goals kept flowing when he arrived at Benfica: 37 in 33 games for their Under-17s before he progressed into the Under-19 and Under-21 sides. Araujo has 10 Under-21 caps overall, scoring seven goals in total, and last season he scored a hat-trick in the UEFA Youth League Final as Benfica beat Red Bull Salzburg 6-0 – the club’s first European title since they won the 1962 European Cup.
