Leeds United are bracing themselves for a potentially difficult summer transfer window
The Wembley tears at full-time in the Championship play-off final only served to reinforce what anyone with even the most remote association with Leeds United knew, Archie Gray 's passion and love for the Whites is beyond question. The Gray name ensures that, but the teenager's performances this season and the way the goals and wins have been celebrated, and the agony of defeats felt, epitomises a love affair that started on the terraces and has transpired onto the pitch.
There's no suggestion Gray is looking to leave and nobody expects that request to emerge, but at the same time Leeds face financial pressures which will require a high-profile sale. While all eyes have been on Crysencio Summerville being that man, a significant transfer fee tabled by the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal or Bayern could force Leeds' hand, and would be difficult for Gray to turn down.
“There are certain trade-offs we have to make and so we'll have to get to the drawing board and figure out which moves we have to make to make sure we are compliant. Archie is a tremendous player, as all of the players who put in so much effort for us, but every season brings change. I can't yet comment on it, but we'll see what happens.”
