Additionally, general manager Steve Keim "has decided to step away from his position in order to focus on his health."and there was no timetable for his return. Keim had been the Cardinals' general manager since 2013.
"The Arizona Cardinals Football Club today announced that head coach Kliff Kingsbury has been relieved of his duties," the team said in a statement. "In addition, General Manager Steve Keim has decided to step away from his position in order to focus on his health. The team wishes them well and thanks both of them for their contributions"after the team fired Steve Wilks after one season in the desert.
Before being hired by the Cardinals, Kingsbury was fired by his alma mater, Texas Tech, after going 35-40 in six seasons. Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill will hold a news conference on Monday at 2 p.m.
