Deionte Thompson has been on the field for 49 special-teams plays in three games this season, including 21 on Sunday in the Cardinals’ 20-12 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Thompson was the personal protector for Arizona punter Andy Lee when the Rams partially blocked a punt at the end of the Cardinals’ opening possession. Los Angeles got the football at the Arizona 35-yard line and kicked a field goal for the first points in the game.
