Firefighters were called to the iconic landmark shortly before 12pm
Dozens of firefighters are battling a blaze which has broken out at Somerset House in central London.
LFB’s control officers said they had already taken more than 20 calls reporting the fire, with the first coming in just before midday. All staff and public are safe and the site is closed. The London Fire Brigade arrived swiftly and we’re working very closely with them to control the spread of the fire.The venue said: “Owing to a fire in one small part of Somerset House, the site is currently closed.Plumes of smoke could be seen emanating from the Georgian building and London Ambulance Service , which is also at the scene, has asked the public to stay away.
