A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, theft from a motor vehicle and going equipped to steal.This arrest was in connection with the theft of an Audi TT from Peace Drive in Watford, and thefts from vehicles in west Watford. The man remains in police custody and the Audi has been recovered.
The second arrest was made in the early hours yesterday after officers responded to reports of a person interfering with vehicles on Wiggenhall Road. A member of the public called 999 to report suspicious activity and officers immediately attended, before arresting a man aged in his 30s on suspicion of vehicle interference. He remains in police custody.Inspector Dan Jones, who leads the Watford Safer Neighbourhood Team, thanked the member of public for the call.
He added: “We’ve seen a recent spike in vehicle crime around the ring road and west Watford, and unfortunately in many cases the vehicles targeted have been left unlocked.”
