NASA gives an update on Artemis. 🚀
NASA’s Artemis spacecraft is “exceeding expectations” on its way to orbit the moon, mission leaders said Friday.
That orbit is a major goal of the mission and would have the spacecraft circling the moon at a high altitude in the opposite direction the moon circles the Earth. While in that orbit NASA will check Orion capsule systems such as guidance, navigation, power and communications in preparation for later missions with astronauts aboard.
The ground crew is also working what Serafin called 13 “funnies” – or issues that don’t threaten the mission. Those include an episodic coolant loop flow issue, issues with file transfers from wingtip cameras, communications “glitches” with either outgoing or incoming data and the spacecraft running “a little hotter when it flies tail to the Sun, but certainly well within limits.”
