One in three Asda employees have been subjected to attacks while on the job, according to a recent study. The survey conducted by GMB, one of the UK's prominent unions, revealed that Asda workers were "bitten, stabbed, punched and threatened with syringes" in a distressing trend nationwide.
Asda staff have endured spitting, broken bones, bottle attacks, and even death threats against themselves and their families. Nadine Houghton, GMB national officer, described the findings as "horrifying" and emphasised that "no one should have to suffer this kind of abuse and violence at work". The poll focuses on Asda, which ranks among the UK's largest supermarkets, competing with giants such as Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, and budget chains like Lidl and Aldi, reports Birmingham Live.
