J.P. France gave them just what they needed, giving the bullpen a slight break by muscling through 6 2/3 innings despite not having his best stuff. Unlike the night before when the bullpen blew numerous leads, Bryan Abreu and Ryan Pressly were able to slam the door on a much-needed 6-4 win.
For a bit, it looked Saturday might be a repeat of Friday's meltdown when the Astros blew a 5-1 lead and a 6-5 advantage. When France finally tired, Abreu entered but gave up hits to the first two batters he saw and suddenly the lead, which also had been 5-1, was down to 5-3. Abreu regrouped to get out of the inning and then retired the side in order in the eighth to set things up for Pressly, who gave up an unearned run but slammed the door for his 12th save.
