SEATTLE — The Astros made a minor league trade Friday, acquiring lefthander Nick Allgeyer from Philadelphia for cash.
The 27-year-old Allgeyer has made one major league appearance. He threw a shutout inning against Tampa Bay on July 2, 2021, with Toronto. This season, Allgeyer was 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA in four appearances, all starts, with Class AAA Lehigh Valley. He had 15 strikeouts to six walks in 12 innings. The Blue Jays, who selected Allgeyer in the 12th round of the 2018 draft out of Iowa, had traded him to the Phillies in March for cash considerations.
Between the Toronto and Philadelphia systems, Allgeyer has a 21-20 record and 4.67 ERA in 99 minor league appearances, with 64 starts.
