Bligh Madris will join Class AAA Sugar Land after being removed from the Astros' 40-man roster last week. Both Bligh Madris and J.J. Matijevic cleared waivers and will remain in the Astros’ organization.
The Astros designated the duo for assignment prior to opening day last week. Both men will report to Class AAA Sugar Land, but are no longer on Houston’s 40-man roster. Matijevic made his major league debut last season and appeared in 32 games. Houston acquired Madris from the Detroit Tigers this winter.
Both bat lefthanded and are capable of backing up first base — which could be crucial for their chances to contribute at the major league level.
