Astros insider: Justin Verlander is having fun — and as good as ever after two years away
“I still take my job extremely seriously, but I think maybe I just appreciate the little things more and am not quite as serious as I once was,” Verlander said. “Maybe that’s just the gray hair creeping in or my daughter, I don’t know. Maybe a combination of both. I do have fun. I am having fun.”

Having the game possibly yanked out from underneath ya makes me appreciate being here, playing with my teammates and pitching well.
“The guy is a horse,” manager Dusty Baker said. “When he pitches, the guys stay alert. He gets the ball quickly, doesn’t mess around on the mound and he keeps the defense sharp when you do that. Plus, when you’re throwing strikes, everyone is sharp. He was very good.”
