One day after it was revealed Lance McCullers Jr. had arm soreness after a bullpen session, the righthander has been shut down from throwing temporarily.

Baker said McCullers is getting treatment from the team’s training staff.McCullers has not been spotted on the field during any of the Astros’ three workouts open to reporters and has not conducted an interview since camp opened on Wednesday. He missed five months of last season with a strained flexor muscle after undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2018.
McCullers is entering the second season of a five-year, $85 million contract extension he signed in 2021.
