Brandon Bielak was in Reno, Nev., with Class AAA Sugar Land on Sunday night when he was informed the Astros were calling him up as an injury replacement forBielak rode a bus with the Space Cowboys to the Reno airport early on Monday morning and caught a flight back to Houston, a relatively easy pivot in his plans -- except that all his gear got sent to Albuquerque, N.M., where the Space Cowboys begin a series on Tuesday.
The righthander was scheduled to start for Class AAA on Tuesday, but instead was available out of the Astros’ bullpen for Monday’s game against the Giants. “I’m not sure yet ,” Baker said. “Right now, he’ll probably be in the pen to start. And we’ll use him as necessary. … Hopefully we don’t need him .”
