After pitching against the Astros in a spring exhibition for Class AAA Sugar Land, J.P. France will make his major league debut for Houston on Saturday night in Seattle.SEATTLE — The Astros' sudden starting pitching depth crunch will result in a new face joining the team.

Righthander J.P. France will make his major league debut and start Saturday’s game against the Mariners at T-Mobile Park, according to multiple reports Friday. France is 2-1 with a 2.33 ERA in five appearances at Class AAA Sugar Land this season. He has 26 strikeouts to 11 walks in 19 ⅓ innings.France, who turned 28 on April 4, is currently in his third season at Sugar Land. He last pitched April 28 at Reno, allowing two runs in 4⅔ innings

The Marrero, La., native was a 14th-round draft pick of the Astros in 2018 out of Mississippi State. Houston added France to its 40-man roster in November to protect him from the Rule 5 draft. He has a 20-17 record and 3.73 ERA in 99 career minor league appearances, including 56 starts, with five saves.
