Arizona State women’s basketball faced Grand Canyon for the first time since 1994 on Wednesday night and recorded historic totals in the fourth quarter to come from behind.
ASU played without starting guard Treasure Hunt, who is listed as day-to-day with a foot injury. Forward Megan Newman started in Hunt’s place and played 21 minutes with 10 points. GCU mounted a 12-0 start and later held the Sun Devils to 12 points in the entire quarter. ASU’s seven turnovers in the quarter fed GCU’s opportunistic offense with GCU scoring eight points off turnovers.
Mokwuah led the team’s defense and recorded a team-high 10 rebounds, including seven defensive rebounds.
