An active shooter situation is unfolding in Lewistown on Wednesday night. CNN reports that 16 people have been confirmed dead.

The Lewiston Police Department says the two locations are Schemengees Bar and Grille and Sparetime Recreation. "We are currently dealing with an active shooter incident . Please stay off the roads to allow emergency responders access to the hospitals," Lewiston Police shared.Maine Governor Janet Mills has issued a statement about the shooting situation.
“I am aware of and have been briefed on the active shooter situation in Lewiston. I urge all people in the area to follow the direction of State and local enforcement. I will to continue to monitor the situation and remain in close contact with public safety officials.”
