An Aurora man has been sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated DUI causing death, officials said.
Gustavo Gutierrez Aguilar, 38, of the first block of Margaret Lane, pleaded guilty on May 18 and was sentenced recently by Kane County Judge David P. Kliment, according to a press release Friday from the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office.Kane County Assistant State’s Attorneys Katy Flannagan and David Belshan presented evidence in court that at about 6 p.m. Dec.
Lazaro Rosas-Garcia, 29, a front-seat passenger in the vehicle, was unconscious and not breathing when first responders arrived, according to the release. He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital a short time later, officials said.Gutierrez Aguilar’s blood-alcohol concentration was .206% - move than twice the legal limit - and his license was revoked at the time of the crash, officials said in the release.
