From more funding to SEN schools, 6,500 more teacher hires and £30 million to breakfast clubs here's everything announced in the Budget
The chancellor's Autumn Budget saw big changes for families. From an increase to Child Benefit and Universal Credit to £1 billion given to the Household Support Fund.
Recruit 6,500 teachers Ms Reeves said there would be a £2.3 billion increase to the core school's budget to hire 'thousands of new teachers' in key subjects. 'I want every child to have the very best start in life. And the best start to the school day too,' she said.The chancellor said the £30 million investment will fund clubs in 'thousands of schools'.
It comes after a report published by the UK's public spending watchdog, the National Audit Office last week found that the current SEN system is 'not achieving value for money and is unsustainable'. VAT on private schools Ms Reeves said that 94% of children in the country attend state schools, and so she will introduce VAT on private schools from January 2025.
