The Avicii Tribute Concert will be streamed on Avicii's official YouTube channel
It's been just less than two years since international superstar Tim Bergling, known to fans as, took his own life. The "Levels" producer and DJ was 28 years old, and his death has touched the world as much as his euphoric anthems. It kicked off a conversation about mental health awareness and suicide prevention within the music business and the whole of society, and on Thursday, Dec.
The concert, which will be streamed on Avicii's official YouTube channel, will bring 19 singers of his biggest hits together on stage with a 30-piece band to perform a two-hour headline set of Avicii originals. Confirmed to perform are Rita Ora, Aloe Blacc, Adam Lambert, Dan Tyminski and surprise guests. Live audience members will also be treated to non-streamed DJ sets from David Guetta, Kygo, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Laidback Luke and Nicky Romero.
“We are grateful that his friends, producers, artists and colleagues are coming to Stockholm to help," Bergling's father Klas is quoted in a press release. "They have all expressed a sincere interest and desire to engage in efforts to stem the tide of mental illness and lend their support to our work with the Tim Bergling Foundation. We are very much looking forward to this evening, which will be a starting point for the foundation's work going forward.
“Every year, around 1,500 people take their own lives in Sweden and globally up to one million," Bergling's father continues. "It is a tragedy that affects families, communities and with long-term effects on relatives who live on in grief. It is a global crisis and the second most common cause of death among young people aged 15-29. We want this concert to help put the topic on the agenda and pay attention to the stigma surrounding mental illness and suicide.
The Avicii Tribute Concert for Mental Health Awareness comes to the Friends Arena in Stockholm Thursday, Dec. 5. Fans can tune in to the live stream via Avicii’s official YouTube, Facebook and Instagram pages from 9 p.m. to 11:15 p.m. CET, which is 3 p.m. EST and 12 p.m. PST.
