Gareth Bale was the man of the moment for LAFC as he popped up with a 128th minute equaliser in the MLS Cup final.
The Wales star did not start the match as he was recovering from a leg injury, but was introduced in the 97rd minute against Philadelphia Union.As he has often done over his illustrious career, he popped up with an important goal just when his team needed it.LAFC then won the penalty shootout 3-0 to win the trophy for the first time.“It’s always nice to score in finals, and I seem to have a knack for doing that,” said Bale. “It’s big. It’s important for the club. It’s important for the fans.
The match was a thrilling encounter with the LA-based side going ahead in the 28th minute through Kellyn Acosta. Philadelphia equalised through Daniel Gazdag early in the second half before LAFC again got their noses in front through Jesus Murillo.
