Broxtowe Borough Council leader Milan Radulovic said there is 'no infrastructure' to meet the demand of the proposals
The future of an ambitious housing plan on the land of a Nottinghamshire barracks is now uncertain - but local authorities have received no 'official confirmation'. Thousands of homes on Chetwynd Barracks in Chilwell and a neighbouring Toton site have seemingly been shelved and Broxtowe Borough Council leader Milan Radulovic says this could be because of the multiple active conflicts around the world.
A reason for the withdrawal is represented by the ongoing tensions across the world, such as Ukraine or Gaza, Cllr Radulovic explained. He added that despite the reports, the council had received no official confirmation as of Friday, August 30. Cllr Radulovic added: "Our strategy has always been to make sure that the infrastructure can cope pending the release of the land. I don't expect it to be until at least 2030."
