A day after news broke that WB is scrapping its Batgirl movie, star Leslie Grace issues her own statement about the shocking turn of events.

Actress Leslie Grace makes an official statement on the shocking cancellation of the Batgirl movie, which she would have starred in as Barbara Gordon. One of Warner Bros.' most highly anticipated upcoming DC films was Batgirl. Directed by Ms. Marvel's Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, Batgirl would follow Barbara's origin story in becoming the titular Gotham City vigilante. Michael Keaton was set to co-star as Bruce Wayne, a.k.a. Batman, after making his return through The Flash movie.

Batgirl finished principal photography on March 31 and was in post-production, eying a supposed 2022 release on HBO Max. However, in an unexpected move that shocked Hollywood, Warner Bros. Discovery made the controversial decision to cancel the Batgirl movie. Not only will Batgirl not head to HBO Max, but the studio has no plans to release it in theaters either.

Not long after the Batgirl movie was canceled, numerous reports began to emerge about the state of Warner Bros. Discovery as they have plans to shake things up even more. While many things have yet to really be confirmed, the DC brand has gained the most attention over the last few days. Supposedly, Aquaman 2 and Shazam 2 are being pushed back once again, while Sasha Calle's Supergirl spinoff movie, following The Flash, is being scrapped alongside the Batgirl film.

Warner Bros. Discovery is holding their quarterly earnings this week; more answers may be given about Batgirl's cancellation following the studio's official statement. For many reasons, this is extremely unfortunate as this would have been Batgirl's first time headlining her own film.
