And the only rooftop bar in San Rafael debuts to a “wild” demand.Downtown San Rafael, a cultural epicenter for the otherwise somnolent Marin County, welcomed not only its first large-scale hotel but also its first rooftop bar this summer. But excitement for the terrace quickly turned the fledgling business into a victim of its own success.
“When we opened, we were absolutely delighted, and somewhat surprised, by the demand for the hotel and restaurant. It was wild,” the hotel’s general manager, Mark Pope, told SFGATE. “We knew it was going to be something special, but the local interest far exceeded our expectations. It’s a good problem and challenge to navigate.”
