Following a short Baylor punt into the wind, Air Force tailback John Lee Eldridge III broke the longest play of the first half, a 34-yard inside run that led to Matthew Dapore’s 37-yard field goal. Passing is not considered the strong suit for Air Force option quarterback Haazig Daniels, but his 68-yard strike to Amari Terry in the opening moments of the third quarter could not have been thrown any better. It led to a two-yard scoring run by Daniels, named the Air Force game MVP, to widen the Falcons’ lead to 16-7.
A fourth-down sack of Shapen by blitzing Falcons linebacker Vince Sanford at midfield eventually led to Roberts’ one-yard scoring run, his second of the night and 17th of the season for a 30-7 Air Force lead. It was the only points scored by either team going into the wind. Roberts finished with 116 yards on 37 carries.
