A Bexar County Sheriff’s Deputy and his K9 are being evaluated at area hospitals after a crash a wrong-way driver crashed into the deputy’s vehicle on Friday.

A Bexar County Sheriff’s deputy and his K9 are being evaluated at area hospitals after a wrong-way driver crashed into the deputy’s vehicle on Friday.Sheriff Javier Salazar said a deputy noticed a black sedan going the wrong way on Old Pearsall Road near Ray Ellison and tried to conduct a traffic stop.

That deputy lost consciousness for a short time but the sheriff said other than a concussion, bumps and bruises, he didn’t suffer any major injuries. The deputy’s K9 was inside the SUV and did not appear to suffer any injuries in the crash but was taken to an animal hospital as a precaution.They were apprehended about 30 minutes later near a home.He said it was unclear why they were driving the wrong way and evading the deputies, but said the pair is now facing a “litany” of felony charges including leaving the scene of a crash, evading arrest in a vehicle and possibly aggravated assault of a peace officer.
