The Euro 2024 qualifying match between Belgium and Sweden was abandoned after two people were shot dead in Brussels.
The horrendous incident unfolded on the streets of the Belgian capital ahead of the fixture on Monday evening. It's believed the victims were Swedish and wearing football shirts, although it's unclear if they were attending the match at this stage. Sweden's official social media account added: "Message to Swedish supporters on site in Brussels: The Belgian police want Swedish supporters to stay in the arena for security reasons. Take part in information from officials, authorities and staff on site.
Supporters have been asked to stay inside the stadium for their own safety. It's claimed Sweden's players didn't want to continue the game following the attack, with Belgium supporting that decision. A terrorism probe has been opened following the shooting.
