Bernie Sanders says the chances he'll run for president again are 'very, very slim.'
"I think the likelihood is very, very slim at that," Sanders told the Washington Post's Robert Costa during a livestream interview when asked whether he will run for president again. "I think next time around you're going to see another candidate carrying the progressive banner."
Costa noted to Sanders that he didn't fully close the door to running for president. The Vermont Senator replied:"Let's not be a media person worried about what's going to happen four years from now.Sanders first ran for president in 2016 and then again in 2020. He ran on a progressive platform, advocating for universal health care, making colleges and universities free and raising taxes on the wealthy.
Sanders, 78, was the oldest candidate running for president this presidential cycle, and would have been the oldest president ever elected had he won the 2020 general election. Former Vice President Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic nominee, is 77-years-old. President Donald Trump is 73-years-old.
