One of Britain's most notorious serial killers is the subject of a new Channel 5 documentary
Grantham and Kesteven Hospital in 1991, where then-nurse Beverley Allitt murdered four children, attempted to murder three other children, and caused grievous bodily harm to a further six children , the near two-hour long programme details the tragic story of four children who died in the span of just 59 days at Grantham Hospital in early 1991.
The now-55-year-old from Grantham, Lincolnshire, was also found guilty on three further counts of attempted murder and another six counts of grievous bodily harm following a horrific spree of attacks that occurred while she worked as a state-enrolled nurse on the children’s ward at Grantham Hospital in early 1991.
Liam Taylor was just seven weeks old when he was admitted to the ward where she worked with a chest infection, and died on 23 February 1991.Timothy Hardwick, an 11-year-old with cerebral palsy, was admitted to the ward following an epileptic seizure and was subsequently murdered on 5 March 1991. Claire Peck was 15 months old when she was admitted to the ward with an asthma attack on 22 April 1991. She was put on a ventilator under Allitt’s care, but soon had a cardiac arrest. Despite being resuscitated by other staff at the hospital, she then had a second cardiac arrest, soon after again being left alone with Allitt.
