As the camera cuts between images of Black women climbing up sand dunes to stand under a full moon, Beyoncé’s voiceover provides an opening verse.

We spin through space for a nanosecond, and then … The camera pans purposefully to display a scene of Black men and women in orange suits and pink dresses, standing at attention in a lush backyard, replete with topiaries and a pool, where synchronized swimmers are waiting to break into a routine.
