El gobierno de Estados Unidos designó 31 centros tecnológicos que alcanzarían territorio en 32 estados y Puerto Rico para fomentar la innovación y crear empleos en industrias concentradas en esas zonas.
El presidente, Joe Biden, tenía previsto anunciarlo el lunes en la Casa Blanca junto a la secretaria de Comercio, Gina Raimondo. “Debo decir, en toda mi carrera en el servicio público nunca he visto tanto interés en ninguna iniciativa como en esta”, dijo Raimondo a la prensa durante una conferencia telefónica para adelantar el anuncio. Su departamento recibió 400 solicitudes, señaló.
Es un intento de expandir la inversión tecnológica, concentrada principalmente en unas pocas ciudades estadounidenses —Austin, Texas; Boston; Nueva York; San Francisco, y Seattle— al resto del país.
