President Joe Biden's reelection campaign used Gov. Ron DeSantis's (R-FL) criticism of former President Donald Trump at the second Republican debate against him in a new ad.

During the debate Wednesday, DeSantis attacked Trump by name, something he's been less inclined to do throughout the campaign."Donald Trump is missing in action, he should be on this stage tonight," he told viewers."He owes it to you to defend his record where they added $7.8 trillion to the debt. That set the stage for the inflation that we have.

In a subsequent video, DeSantis's"war room" account painted the current economy as a product of failures from both Trump and Biden."Trump may have started the fire on inflation, but Biden dumped gasoline on it. Ron DeSantis will stop DC politicians of both parties from spending our country into oblivion," it wrote.

The clip highlighted Trump's spending and addition to the national debt but also included Biden's contributions and spending.Ron DeSantis will stop DC politicians of both parties from spending our country into oblivion. https://t.co/7Z6NkbOu1d pic.twitter.com/2cTH6HkKTUWhen it comes to the national debt, which has reached $33 trillion, it's true that nearly $8 trillion was added to it during Trump's administration.

The economy has consistently polled as the most important issue to voters going into the 2024 elections, with nearly one-third saying so in a recent Quinnipiac University national poll.
