The UCLA legend does not want to see his alma mater leave the Pac-12.

Back in late June, the Big Ten announced that UCLA and USC’s application to join the conference had been accepted and that they would officially join in 2024.of reporter John Canzano on Tuesday, is a strong expression of disapproval of the move. He cites the hardships on the bodies and lives of athletes, increased costs, the increased carbon footprint of each school and even the negative impacts that it’ll have on Cal’s sports program.
“These same proponents of moving to the Big 10, are the first people I have ever encountered in my life, who have claimed economic hardship and limitations in Los Angeles, and that the solution lies in the Midwest,” Walton wrote in his idiosyncratically punctuated letter.
