Baldwin shared the news by using an image from the account. It shows side-by-side photos of his 19-month-old son and himself at around the same age. The account began posting photos of the Baldwin children and their parents on March 3, always with captions in Spanish. The next day, Hilaria Baldwin announced on Instagram that she was taking a brief social media break, only to return to announce her pregnancy.
“Too creepy posting photos of kids you know and aren’t related to, unless it’s Hillary Lynn running the account,” one person wrote in a comment that appears to have been deleted. Eric Schiffer, a Los Angeles-based expert in public relations and crisis management, agreed in an interview with this news organization that Hilaria Baldwin has used her children “as props” on social media. He and other critics have said that both Alec and Hilaria Baldwin have sought to garner sympathy since the shooting by emphasizing their role as harried but dedicated parents.
Experts say there’s a risk that when children are in middle school or older they will be uncomfortable with all the photos that even well-intentioned parents have made public. Another issue is that, once online, children’s photos and information can be used by third-party strangers in sometimes nefarious ways, including by child pornographers and predators.
