The Black Lives Matters founders, Rosa Parks and Ruby Bridges are just a few of the many notable on our Women of the Century list who have led movements dedicated to civil rights.

The activists on this list – from Gloria Steinem to Dorothy Height to Dolores Huerta – have spent their entire lives fighting to better the world for other people, refusing to be swayed or discouraged by the obstacles in their path.
