The work has been approved by Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council planning committee
Work can now start on a major project to re-roof a heritage-listed East Lancashire cultural attraction and protect its contents.
Its chairman Cllr Dave Smith said: “This is an important Grade II listed building. This is good news.” The hub in at the corner of Museum Street and Richmond Terrace In Blackburn town centre was one of the first public museums to open outside London in 1874. It houses irreplaceable collections of national importance including paintings by J W Turner, Japanese prints, Christian icons and Egyptian exhibits.
