'If you are watching your life savings dwindle away on care packages, you want to save as much as you can'
Blackpool Council has been ordered to review its policies after it was found to be over-charging some residents for their care packages.
A care package was organised for Mark’s father Richard in 2021, with carers visiting him four times a day after he was discharged from hospital. His financial circumstances meant he had to pay the full cost of £222 per week, but carers were cancelled on seven occasions between January and April due to family visits.
“I asked the council why they were charging my father for something they weren’t paying for, and they simply told me it was their policy.”
