We spoke to holidaymakers in Blackpool to see if the popular seaside resort is value for money
In fact the seaside resort's popularity has only increased over the years as it welcomed almost 19 million visitors in 2021. One of the many reasons that people may choose to return to Blackpool is its value for money, as a recent survey has named the Lancashire town the most affordable UK destination.
Julie and Rob have five grandchildren but decided to holiday in the town with two of them including granddaughter Esme. Rob told LancsLive: "It's probably one of the better resorts in the country. We went up the Tower yesterday and they've [the grandchildren] have never been up it before. Rob added: "It costs us £95 a night here, but if you go to London you're looking at £150. So I suppose it is good value for money.
Another couple on the Comedy Carpet were Barbara and Tom Hastings who hail from Kilmarnock in Scotland. They both visited Blackpool as children, when the town was considerably cheaper to visit. More surprisingly perhaps are the holidaymakers that choose to visit Blackpool from overseas. Whilst European countries may spring to mind, it's even more surprising when people visit our humble Lancashire town from thousands of miles away.
Visiting for four days, Carmen explained the route from their remote island to get to the UK and what their plans are for the trip. She added: "It's a well-known tourist attraction and we're really looking forward to it. We've only just got here and all we've done is eat, but we're going to do the attractions."
