BMG has promoted Sylvain Gazaignes to general manager in France
to general manager in France, part of a push to expand the company's recordings business in the territory.
In his new role, Gazaignes will lead a freshly-structured team of more than 30 staffers based in Paris, reporting to "France has been a core BMG territory for nearly 10 years. In that time, we have built a strong position in the music publishing business," Casimir shares. "The job now is to match that strength in recordings. I am delighted that Sylvain has stepped up to this position. With his broad experience, he is a great addition to our European team.
Gazaignes first came on board at BMG France as an A&R manager in 2011. Since joining the recorded music and publishing giant, he has signed clients like French rapper Nekfeu and hip-hop duo Bigflo & Oli, while overseeing the development of artists and songwriters across all genres. Prior to BMG, he spent more than eight years in the A&R department at Sony Music Entertainment's Paris outpost., who left the company earlier this year.
"It is my goal to further expand our activities in the local market as well as promoting our French signings to an international audience using the BMG network," Gazaignes adds. "I am proud that we’ve already signed a couple of exciting new artists which we expect to announce soon." His promotion coincides with a wave of international expansion at BMG, which began last month with theHartwig MasuchBMG is headquartered in Berlin, and now has 15 offices in 12 countries.
