Body found during St Helens dam search after fears raised for teenage girl
Emergency services including police, paramedics and firefighters were called to Carr Mill Dam in St Helens this afternoon after receiving reports of a concern for the safety of a teenage girl. Following an extensive search officers from Merseyside Police have now confirmed that a body has been found, the ECHO has reported.
Search and rescue teams were seen leaving the area at around 5.30pm. A family who live near Carr Mill Dam told the ECHO that there are often people swimming in the dam during periods of warm weather. "When the schools return for the summer term our schools officers will work with St Helens Council to ensure that we are able to educate young people about the dangers of water. We know how tempting it can be to cool down in the water on a hot summers day, but we want to ensure that young people are equipped with the right knowledge to keep them safe around water."
