Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg reassured President Donald Trump today that the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft is safe

Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg reassured President Donald Trump Tuesday that the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft is safe, the company confirmed.

The conversation occurred even as governments including the European Union, the United Kingdom, France and Germany joined others around in the world in grounding the widely sold plane model or banning it from their skies amid questions about Sunday's fatal crash of an Ethiopian Airlines jet.The Federal Aviation Administration has so far maintained that it has no basis for a similar decision until more data can be collected.on Twitter that planes are "becoming far too complex to fly.

A spokesman for Boeing confirmed the conversation and said Muilenburg "made clear to the president that the MAX aircraft is safe." Boeing would not say who requested the call or whether it was previously scheduled, or provide any further details about what Trump and Muilenburg said.
