'As disappointed as we were to postpone the festival, the storm has shown Bolton’s resilient spirit at its very best'
Thousands flocked to Bolton's Food and Drink festival after the opening day was cancelled due to Storm Lilian.
Photos shared with the Manchester Evening News showed a number of stalls had been flipped over due to the high winds caused by Storm Lilian. Photos also showed the festival stage area had also been damaged by the high winds - which hit Greater Manchester with speeds of up to 60mph this morning. However, the local community has since worked tirelessly to pull the event back together, officially opening at 10am this morning, with thousands of visitors attending.
“As disappointed as we were to postpone the festival, the storm has shown Bolton’s resilient spirit at its very best.
