Asthma and Lung UK has appealed to 368,000 people living with asthma in Scotland to stay indoors on November 5.
A warning to stay indoors has been issued to those who suffer from asthma in Scotland ahead of Bonfire Night.
The elements can cause coughing, breathlessness, and wheezing to flare up - leaving people struggling to breathe. Eve, 65, who was diagnosed with the condition 30 years ago, suffered a severe asthma attack on Bonfire Night 15 years ago. Eve, who lives in East Kilbride, said: "For a good few days before November 5, and for a while after too, I am housebound, with the windows sealed and the outside doors shut. A few years ago, I made the mistake of leaving the house one smoky bonfire night.
"I just stay indoors and don't leave the house at all at the beginning of November and wait for bonfire night to be over. It's just not worth the risk."
